Having the ability to protect yourself and your family is one of the most important rights. One of the very best ways that you can accomplish this is by concealing and always carrying a firearm. When a situation arises, it is nice to be prepared and be able to protect yourself and the ones you love. Before you look at firearms for sale, you should know what kind you want. There are many different types of firearms that you may wish to conceal, and all of them are going to be handguns. Pistols and revolvers are the most popular types of handguns to conceal, but the occasional derringer may be used. Whether you like pistols or revolvers, here are a few thing to keep in mind when picking out a concealed carry handgun.

Size

One of the most important aspects of your handgun is the size. The reason you have a concealed carry permit is to conceal the firearm. So you do not want to "print," or have the outline of your handgun come through your clothing. The best way that you can do this is to ensure that it is small enough to conceal. barrel length is an important factor when thinking of size, anything much bigger than 4.5 inches may be too long to conceal well. Also think about the thickness of the handgun. The thicker the handgun the harder it is to keep from printing. The weight of your handgun is also going to be a very big factor. If you have a conceal carry permit, you should carry anywhere that is not breaking the law. If your handgun is to heavy, you will not want to carry because it will be too uncomfortable.

Accuracy

When you reduce the length of the barrel, you are going to sacrifice accuracy. However, you will be able to find a small conceal carry firearm that you are accurate with. Look for the handguns with competition barrels that are built for accuracy.

Practice

Be familiar with your firearm, and make sure to practice a few times a month. You may even want to consider taking a self defense firearm course. If you are ever in a situation where you need to use your firearm, you will want to be completely prepared. Knowing what to do if there is a jam, or if your ammunition malfunctions may save your life and the life of the ones you love. Practice and become proficient in the use of your new conceal carry firearm.
